Welcome to Week 1

This week introduces you to KIN 479: Motor Control, a face-to-face course that follows a flipped classroom model. You’ll get familiar with the course structure, expectations, and begin exploring foundational and applied aspects of human motor control through an integrated approach to movement across the lifespan.

The Process

This course employs a flipped classroom model, where students engage with learning materials before class and participate in interactive activities during class time. This approach encourages active learning and deeper understanding of motor control concepts.

Weekly materials will be made available on this course website and should be reviewed prior to each class. Find the links under Weekly Materials on the sidebar. I use Canvas for assignment submissions, announcements, and email communication.

Each week, students will Prepare, Participate, Practice, and Perform. I will demonstrate below:

  • Monday: Attend class and engage in discussions and activities.
  • Wednesday: Complete the Study Skills Survey and participate in in-class activities.

Practice

Perform

  • Monday: Complete an in-class activity (Exit Ticket) - 5 points.
  • Wednesday: Complete an in-class activity (Exit Ticket) - 5 points.

  • Face-to-face classes: Mondays and Wednesdays at scheduled times
    • Section 19821: MoWe 1:00-2:15 pm
    • Section 19617: MoWe 2:30-3:45 pm
  • Flipped classroom model: Study topics before coming to class
  • Attendance essential: Participation points awarded for in-class activities
