Research Interests
- Validation of observational models in psychomotor assessment instruments
- The relationship between motor skill competence, perceived motor competence, physical activity levels, and body composition
- The application of artificial intelligence to enhance movement assessment, particularly in the automated recognition and evaluation of fundamental movement skills
Research Projects
Development and psychometric evaluation of the KinderKinetics Assessment Tool
This project aims to collect validity and reliability evidence for the KinderKinetics Assessment Tool (KKAT). KKAT is an AI-based instrument designed to assess the motor skills of children. It employs computer vision and machine learning techniques to analyze children’s movements during various motor tasks, providing objective and accurate assessments of their motor skill proficiency.Development and psychometric evaluation of the PictoMotion assessment tool
This project aims to collect validity and reliability evidence for the PictoMotion, an instrument designed to assess the qualitative aspects of fundamental motor skills in children. PictoMotion uses pictorial representations to facilitate the observation and evaluation of children’s movement patterns during various motor tasks.Transcultural validation of the Furtado-Gallagher Children Observational Movement Pattern Assessment System (FG-COMPASS)
This project aims to collect validity and reliability evidence for the Portuguese version of the FG-COMPASS, which involves adapting the Furtado-Gallagher Children Observational Movement Pattern Assessment System (FG-COMPASS) to Portuguese-speaking populations, ensuring that the instrument is culturally relevant and psychometrically sound for use in these contexts.Development and psychometric evaluation of the FG-COMPASS
The aim of this project is to collect validity and reliability evidence for the Children Observational Movement Pattern Assessment System (FG-COMPASS).Factors associated with the development of basic motor skills and physical fitness in elementary school students
This project aims to identify prevalence of motor skill deficits and to verify the nature of the associations between the proficiency of basic motor skills with sociodemographic, anthropometric variables, perception of competence, physical fitness and school performance among elementary school students from the municipal public schools in the city of Marechal Cândido Rondon-PR (Brazil).
